A native of Rock Hill, SC, Anthony was first introduced to the art of photography in the late 1980’s, while in the US Army, stationed in Seoul, South Korea. This is where he purchased his first advanced camera, which happened to be a Minolta X-370 35mm single-lens-reflex (SLR) camera. This was back in the days where the medium for taking photographs was all film based. Anthony took classes and learned the art of developing film using the darkroom techniques. These techniques required him to remove the film from the camera in a dark room, process the film in the developing solution, let the film dry, and then shoot light through the film negatives onto photo paper in preparation to develop the final photo.
Throughout the years Anthony would continue to take photos of the places he traveled and of family and friends. Then when the technology advanced to the point of digital cameras, he purchased a consumer based point-and-shoot camera and continued taking photos as one of his hobbies. He would do simple photo shoots for friends and family but nothing on a grand scale. One day he was introduced to a software program called Photoshop, when a request was made to him to create flyers for a motorcycle club event. New to using software to process graphics, Anthony began to read up on the capabilities of Photoshop and watching tutorials on the Internet. This process really ignited his passion for capturing photos and the post production editing of them in Photoshop. Anthony eventually linked up with his neighbor, who was taking photographs on a professional level. His neighbor saw his ability and suggested that he step up to a professional level digital single-lens-reflex (DSLR) camera.
Anthony took his advice, and in April of 2011, he took his first steps in the journey of pursuing his passion for photography. Anthony purchased a Canon T2i DSLR camera. He started tagging along with his neighbor on photo shoots trying to learn all he could about photography as a profession. In July, 2011, he created the brand “Anthony Massey: Photography” specializing in Portrait’s, Weddings, Special Events, Photo Editing and Retouching. No longer, does he keep his passion locked inside, Anthony has now decided to put his Photography on display and continue to “Capture Those Special Moments”.
